About
I’m your average adventure-seeking 43-year-old who is the mother to 3 Bs, the wife of the most wonderful man in the world, the colleague past and present to many. I love to create, write, laugh, sing (badly), watch movies and anything by Aaron Sorkin, write plays, play with my kids, help others, read my Bible, worship God.
My mother was a breast cancer victim (I hate the word, but she was) three times, at the age of 49, then 59, then finally 64. She died a month after her 64th birthday.
When I was in my 20s I was convinced I was going to have breast cancer just like my mom, and die from it just like she did. When I was 36 and became a Christian, it suddenly seemed possible that I might not get breast cancer and die from it after all.
This year, on 17 July, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ). Tragically, though it was stage 0, I lost my right breast to cancer.
I created this blog as a promise to God that I would start writing again — writing creatively, penning down my thoughts. It is something I have not done for myself for a long time, having been caught up in a cycle of writing for money (paahhh!).
I hope and pray this blog helps any woman suffering from breast cancer, or the child of a cancer sufferer, or a spouse — anyone who is looking for answers, failing which, the simple knowledge that someone else has walked this road before, and lives to tell the tale.
